Opened in 2009, Maple Palace restaurant is known for Asian food at its finest, excellent service and magnificent ambience. Situated in the newly upgraded grand heritage mansion along Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, Maple Palace is easy to locate.
The restaurant emphasises on the presentation and quality of food, of which all dishes are made from freshest and finest ingredients without the use of MSG. Maple Palace specialises in wide array of Cantonese and Szechuan dishes with a harmonious blend of East and West. Giving tradition a little artisan twist, all dishes display incredible flavours with unique interpretations that pay homage to various Asian cooking methods.
maple palace-1The proprietor cum the head-chef, Tan Loy Sin, along with his team of kitchen mavericks relentlessly work to design new degustation menu every six months to ensure diners get to experience a completely new culinary adventure each time they visit the restaurant.  In order to maintain the food quality and standards, the restaurant hires only skilled and experienced staffs.
Many know the restaurant for its signature aromatic fish steamboat, which the soup is boiled for hours, creating a satisfying pot of wholesome flavour. Apart from the fish steamboat, there are other delectable dishes that worth for a try. For seafood lovers, the oven baked Whole Lobster Thermidor is a must-try dish. Flavoured with Parmesan cheese and topped with shallot, onion and button mushroom, all ingredients are well integrated, creating a taste of heaven. Other highlights on the menu are Traditional Crispy Peking Duck, Buddha Jump over the Wall, BBQ Roasted Spanish Iberico Black Pig Spare Rib, Fresh Crab Mee Hoon Soup in hot clay pot and Spanish Lamb Leg with Mixed Herb.
Satisfy your sweet tooth with the Chilled Mango Sago with Pomelo served in Coconut to polish off a satisfying meal. If you love to have something warm, the black sesame glutinous rice balls which are served in warm ginger tea is for you. Known as “Swatow-kay” or Swatow Street among the Penangites, Kimberley Street (Lebuh Kimberley in Malay) is definitely one of all foodies’ favourite food destinations in George Town. It runs from Penang Road to Carnarvon Street in the heart of the city, clustered with streetside hawker stalls which started near the intersection with Rope Walk (Jalan Pintal Tali). Most of the stalls in the street are operated by second- or third-generation hawkers, and had been there since World War II. Kimberley Street was named after John Wodehouse, the Earl of Kimberley, who was the British colonial secretary in the 1870s. The road was created in the late 19th century and was populated by Teochew immigrants from the Swatow Province, who made bihun (rice noodles) and mee suah (vermicelli), drying them in the open.
