The month-long George Town Festival (GTF) was first conducted in 2008 as a celebration of the city’s UNESCO Heritage Site Listing. In previous years, GTF was celebrated together with George Town World Heritage Day on 7 July. Since last year, the festival had shifted to August due to accommodate the Muslim fasting month.  This year GTF continues its 7th Anniversary with an eclectic line-up of world class local and international guests. Let’s discover the wonderful George Town’s exuberant history, culture and community for the entire month of August!

Berlin-based theatre troupe Rimini Protokoll will bring Penang’s city demographics to life in a uniquely interactive performance featuring 100 participants which have chosen based on different backgrounds.

The daughter faces unexpected consequences, when she rejects marry the bachelors and chooses to marry a cat instead.
Nightingale
China’s Nanning Peoples’ Arts House will perform Hans Christian Andersen’s timeless story of the Nightingale, whose beautiful voice enchants the Emperor of China and drives him to keep the bird locked in a cage so that he can always hear its song.

Sunrise & Sunset Beaches of Penang

Penang beaches are divided into two large pools of secluded beaches without amenities and popular easy-to-access beaches that provide all the fun activities. Dotted along Batu Ferringhi’s coasts and within minutes walk from the beachfront resorts and holiday apartments are Tanjung Bungah and Batu Ferringhi that draw a steady crowd of tourists and locals throughout the year. Air Itam, an old suburbia of Penang, is nestled within the central valleys of Penang Island and is approximately 7 km southwest of George Town.
